While there is no shortage of coffee shops in Modesto, none are quite as unique as Bottom's Up Espresso. Playing on the same field as a popular chicken wing place, Bottom's Up Espresso serves you your double shot espressos and cuppa joes with a side of sexiness. Young and attractive scantily clad baristas take care of all your caffeine needs, and look good doing it. The menu also has a dozen suggestively named fruit smoothies to get your motor going the nutritious way. They are so popular, they have had to open a second Modesto location, and have plans for franchising the concept.
Mocha Magic
In business since 1994, another great coffee shop in Modesto is Mocha Magic. Besides the requisite gourmet java beverages, breakfast croissant-wiches, scones and the like, they have an awesome sandwich menu and daily lunch specials. The soups and salads are all homemade. And they deliver in the downtown area for the crazy cheap charge of fifty cents!
Queen Bean Coffee House
The Queen Bean Coffee House is located in a delightfully renovated old house with Spanish terracotta roof tiles. The inside is decorated with whimsical care. Outside, there is a wide front porch to relax on, and the yard sports a large covered deck, lavish landscaping, and the beauty of it all is enclosed with wrought-iron fencing. Lattes, espressos, and mochas aside, the menu is ripe with creative, gourmet sandwiches and fresh salads. They also have open-mic and showcase live local bands.
My Garden Cafe
Besides coffee, My Garden Cafe is known for their homemade jams and the unique breakfast offering, “Biscuits with Chocolate Gravy.” They also serve a nice brunch on the weekends. The coffee is good, the food is good, the portions are big, and the prices are low.
Old Plantation Coffee & Cafe
Old Plantation Coffee and Cafe serves locally roasted coffees and fresh bakery goods, including vegan and gluten-free, from Pure Love Bakery. Relax in a subdued home-like bistro setting. They have excellent breakfast and lunch paninis for a great price. Old Plantation Coffee and Cafe is perfect for remote working as they offer free WiFi.
