York University Says coffee can heal heart

So thankfully, a recent study has revealed that coffee does have its health benefits after all.

Researchers from York University tracked 3,721 heart attack survivors in the UK and analyzed their habits, and found that patients who drank one or two cups of coffee a day were 20% less likely to prematurely die from heart damage than those who didn’t drink at all.

A pleasant surprise, no? Keep in mind that these weren’t hardcore coffee drinkers - who knows how the results would have changed if these people were necking 4-5 cups a day instead.

So as always, moderation is key.

It’s not totally understood what coffee’s effects on the body are, but several studies have found it to have other health benefits, from reducing the risk of developing type two diabetes or relieving pain, to helping with depression.

It could also reduce your chances of getting skin cancer, and that’s even if you drink more than two cups a day. Apparently, women who drink three or more cups of coffee a day are way less likely to develop it than those who don’t.

So perhaps that flat white wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

What do you think? Is coffee as good for us as we hope?
