The Future of Tim Horton's

Coming to a Tim Horton’s near you. A store mock-up inside the walls of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre looked radically different from the restaurant chain’s current earth-toned iteration, with high-gloss white counters, tables and banquettes and an open glass-walled view into the back kitchen, so people could see baked goods going in and out of industrial ovens. A large in-store touch screen would enable customers to see current weather conditions or find out more about Tim Hortons charities and menu items. And Beer!

Well Maybe….As Tim Horton’s approaches saturation of the Canadian marketplace in terms of the number of stores growth will come from expanding the offering to customer and increasing the average purchase value.

In addition to new side salads, potential menu items behind the glass included a range of more complex baked confections such as muffin-sized individual peach pies; elaborately decorated donuts in flavours such as tiramisu, lemon meringue and black forest cake; and turnover-style Nutella pockets.

All of things were recently on display for Tim Horton’s Franchise Managers in Toronto this week to gauge their opinions as valuable members of the Tim Horton’s team.  Personally we’d like to see a separation of the coffee lines from the lunch lines. Sometimes you just need a coffee and shouldn’t be held up by the lunch order. Perhaps they should add a function to their app where you can purchase just a coffee and then pick it up at a side counter bypassing the lines. Or maybe we should do it for them.
