Dark City Coffee- July Product of the Month

You may have noticed that there was no award for the month of June. Well, nothing grabbed us.
While doing research for our coffee roasters guide I had the opportunity meet with David Thompson of Dark City Roasters. I expected a good cup of coffee. What I didn't expect was his business model. While I was testing the coffee and chatting about beans and trends I was quietly watching as orders for coffee came and were prepared for home delivery, just like the newspaper.
Their operation is low tech, processing all orders by hand from start to finish. There is no fancy computerized equipment roasting your coffee at the push of a button, just a guy who knows coffee, an antique roaster, and his skill using it. The result is a hand crafted, custom roasted pound of coffee unlike any you've tried before.
And if you're looking for Fair Trade Orgainic coffee, No problem just ask for it.
Not known to the company I had a secret shopper place an order by phone. The report had several questions to be completed. I got back a single word. "Flawless"
I had to dig further and heard that the order was taken politely and professionally. Questions were asked and the answers had the customer needs in mind at all time.
The product was delivered on time and contained - "fresh roasted heaven."
